The quickest and easiest way to claim your Medicare Benefit is when you pay for the service at your doctor’s office.

To claim your benefit, you need to:

• be enrolled in Medicare
• show your Medicare Card 
• provide your Medicare number and IRN number.

The doctor’s office lodges an electronic claim for you and Medicare pays the Medicare Benefit into:

• the account for the EFTPOS card you used to pay or
• the bank account you have registered with Medicare.

Your benefit is paid into your nominated bank account and is usually available on the next working day.
