In this Guide, we explain the Lifetime Health Cover Loading, which is an extra charge you may have to pay if you take out Hospital Cover after the age of 31.
This is one of the ways the Australian government persuades people to take out Hospital Cover earlier in life.
If you are over 31 and take out Hospital Cover for the first time, you have to pay a 2% Lifetime Health Cover Loading for every year you are over 30 up to a maximum of 70%.
The Lifetime Health Cover Loading stops after you have held Hospital Cover continuously for 10 years.
This Guide will help you work out whether or not you have to pay the Lifetime Health Cover Loading and how much it will cost if you do have to pay it.
