If you live in Australia permanently, your Base Day will be the later of 1 July 2000 or 1 July following your 31st birthday.

For example:

A person born in 1990

Iris was born on 20 March 1990. Her 31st birthday is 20 March 2021 so her Base Day is 1 July 2021.

A person born in 1967

Connor was born on 2 April 1967. His Base Day is 1 July 2000 (not 1 July 1998) because that is the date the Australian Government introduced the Lifetime Health Cover Loading.

If you are a new migrant to Australia or an Australian who has been living overseas, the rules about how to calculate your Base Day are different.

A quick and easy way to calculate your Base Day and Lifetime Health Cover Loading is to use our healthslips.com.au Calculator.
