Background

Queensland Country Health Fund began in 1977 as the Mount Isa Mines (MIM) Employees’ Health Society to protect its workers from high hospital and medical costs.

In 1999, the MIM Employees’ Health Society merged with the Queensland Country Credit Union (Queensland Country Bank) to form Queensland Country Health Ltd. The fund transformed from a restricted fund to an open health fund.

Queensland Country Health also runs the Territory Health Fund. 

Queensland Country Health focuses on providing health insurance to nearly 60,000 members living in regional Queensland and the Northern Territory.
