Background

Teachers Health was established in 1954 by the NSW Teachers Federation to provide affordable private health insurance to teachers and other people working in education and their families. It initially had 2,600 members. 

Today, it is Australia’s largest industry-based health fund and has over 400,000 members around the country.

Who can join Teachers Health?

You can join Teachers Health if you are:

  • a teacher working in a primary, secondary or tertiary education
  • an administrative and support staff member working in primary, secondary or tertiary education.
  • a family member of one of the above, which includes:
    • current or former spouses or partners
    • dependent children
    • adult children, their partners and dependent children
    • siblings, their partners and dependent children
    • parents
    • grandchildren
