Background

Established in 1929, Mildura Health Fund was the first health fund of its type in Victoria. Its objective was to create a fund that covers hospital costs so members would not have to worry about the expense of hospital treatment. 

The insurer claims to be the oldest open fund in Australia. 

Over the years, Mildura Health Fund has resisted attempts for it to merge with larger health insurers and claims to be a truly regional health fund.

It has over 35,000 members with 75% living in the Sunraysia area.

Do Mildura Health Fund policies include Ambulance Cover?

For residents of NSW and ACT, emergency Ambulance Cover is included in Hospital Cover

For residents of NT, SA, VIC and WA with Extras Cover, Mildura Health Fund may pay a benefit towards your ambulance service subscription depending on your level of cover.

For residents of QLD and TAS, you are already covered by your state-based ambulance scheme.

Mildura Health Fund does not include emergency Ambulance Cover with its Hospital Cover.

Under its Extras Cover, it offers a refund on ambulance subscriptions for:

  • NT
  • SA
  • VIC
  • WA.
