If you want more health cover than a Basic policy, a BronzeHospital Cover policy could be a good choice, providing cover on 21 of the 38 hospital clinical categories which can be claimed on private health insurance. But that doesn’t mean all Bronze health insurance policies give you the same level of value – and they’re certainly not priced the same. In fact, we found more than $4,661.76 difference per year between the cheapest and most expensive Bronze Hospital Cover on the market, which is why we strongly recommend comparing every policy from every insurer before you sign up for health insurance.
Here at healthslips.com.au, we’re across every health insurance policy available in Australia, and our calculator gives you all your policy options with unbiased results. Here’s how to find the best and cheapest Bronze health insurance in Australia.

What’s the cheapest Bronze Hospital Cover?
Using the healthslips.com.au calculator, we looked for Combined Hospital and Extras Bronze Cover for 2 adults with dependants (children) in Queensland, with a $750 excess. Here’s what we found:
Cheapest per month
Most expensive per month
Difference per month
Difference per year
$295.60
$684.08
$388.48
$4,661.76
Both policies cover the same hospital services (clinical categories), but unlike the more expensive policy, the cheaper policy doesn’t include accident cover.
The treatments covered by Extras Cover on these 2 policies, however, were starkly different, with the cheaper policy covering only 13 treatments and the more expensive policy covering 21 of a possible 27 treatments.
Bronze Plus policies are another option to consider, giving more cover than Bronze policies without the price point of Silver Hospital Cover.
