If you’re looking for the best Silver health insurance in Australia, price will naturally be one of the big factors in your decision. But you also need to consider what you get for that policy – paying more for a policy doesn’t automatically mean better cover.
Unlike most health-insurance comparison websites, here at healthslips.com.au we’re across every policy from every insurer on the market. We know how to find the best health cover available, so if you’re looking for Silver tier health insurance, here’s what to look for.
We used the healthslips.com.au Calculator to search for Combined Hospital and Extras cover for 2 adults with children in Victoria. Here’s what we found:
Cheapest per month | Most expensive per month | Difference per month | Difference per year |
$413.55 | $898.97 | $485.42 | $5,825.04 |
Both policies offered exactly the same level of cover on the Hospital Cover, but the Extras Cover differed substantially, with the more expensive policy providing cover for 26 out of 27 treatments, compared to just 9 treatments on the cheaper policy. Plus, the Ambulance Cover on the cheaper policy did not include non-essential ambulance call-outs.
Another option in the Silver tier is a Silver Plus policy, which offers more cover than a standard Silver policy but not as much as Gold. It can be a good choice if you want more coverage without paying for a Gold policy.
Find out whether Silver Plus policies are good value.
As with all policies, it’s important to compare the details and find out what is covered, and what conditions apply.
To find the best Silver tier Hospital Cover for you, use the healthslips.com.au Calculator, which compares every single policy in Australia quickly – for free. You don’t have to enter any contact details to get your results, and we don’t have any bias towards any insurer. You can compare up to 10 policies at the same time, across Basic, Bronze, Silver and Gold, to see which policy will give you the cover you need at a price that suits your budget. The ‘show differences’ button will instantly highlight the different healthcare services that are included or excluded.
