How to get a linking code to link Medicare and myGov

To get a linking code from Medicare to link your myGov to Medicare, follow these steps:

Step 2:

Call the Medicare Program on 132 011 (7 days a week/ 24 hours a day) and ask them for a linking code.

Step 3:

Sign into your myGov account.

Step 4:

Select ‘Services’ in the main menu.

Step 5:

Select ‘Link new service’.

Step 6:

Select option: ‘I have a linking code’.

Step 7:

Enter:

  • your linking code and Medicare Card number (all 11 digits without spaces) when asked to enter your agency reference number 
  • your Individual Reference Number (IRN) (the number next to your name on your Medicare Card).

To successfully get your linking code, the name you have recorded with myGov must match your name recorded with Medicare.
