Does the amount of my Private Health Insurance Rebate change each year?

Reviewed and updated 3 April 2024

Yes. The amount of your Private Health Insurance Rebate changes each year because:

  • The Australian Government changes the Rebate percentage on 1 April each year based on the Rebate Adjustment Factor, which is calculated as the difference between the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the industry-weighted average increase in the cost of health insurance policies.
  • Your rebate calculation is also based on the number of dependent children you have.
