The excess on your Hospital Cover needs to be:

• $750 or less for singles  
• $1,500 or less for single parents, couples and families.

These types of health insurance do not allow you to avoid paying the Medicare Levy Surcharge:

• Extras Cover without Hospital Cover.
• Overseas Visitors Health Cover (OVHC)
• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
• Health insurance policies held with non-registered insurers such as international insurers.
